New Delhi, May 17, 2025 – In a significant move to celebrate India’s rich tea heritage and its strides towards becoming a developed, self-reliant nation, the Tea Board India has announced the International Tea Day Convention 2025. Themed ‘Tea For Better Lives’, the convention will take place at Vanijya Bhawan, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, New Delhi, on May 21, 2025.

The event aims to commemorate International Tea Day in a befitting manner, while also highlighting India’s journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat’-a vision of a developed and self-reliant nation. The convention will showcase the ‘Atmanirbhar’ (self-reliant) spirit of India’s tea industry, which remains a cornerstone of the country’s agricultural and export economy.

A Gathering of Industry Stakeholders

Tea Board India has extended invitations to a wide array of stakeholders from the tea sector. This includes start-ups, exporters, small tea growers (STGs), industry experts, self-help groups (SHGs), farmer-producer organizations (FPOs), and innovators. The convention promises to be a melting pot of ideas, experiences, and innovations, fostering collaboration and growth within the industry.

In addition to panel discussions and networking opportunities, the event will feature the India Tea Experience Zone. This unique space will allow participants to conduct tea tasting and appreciation sessions, and display their products. The focus will be exclusively on Indian teas, ensuring that only blends with Camellia sinensis as the major component and of Indian origin are showcased, sampled, or promoted. This move is aimed at reinforcing the authenticity and global appeal of Indian teas.

Promoting Indian Tea on the World Stage

India is one of the world’s largest tea producers and exporters, with a legacy that dates back centuries. The International Tea Day Convention will not only celebrate this legacy but also underscore the industry’s commitment to sustainability, quality, and innovation. The event is expected to attract attention from domestic and international buyers, policy makers, and tea enthusiasts.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the convention seeks to address challenges faced by the industry, promote best practices, and chart a roadmap for the future. Special emphasis will be placed on empowering small tea growers and supporting women-led and community-based initiatives, in line with the government’s vision for inclusive growth.

Call for Participation

Interested stakeholders are encouraged to express their interest in participating by contacting the designated officials at Tea Board India. The last date for applications is May 16, 2025. The detailed programme schedule will be shared soon with all confirmed participants.

For further information, stakeholders can reach out to Shri S.M. Nasrullah, Special Officer (NWI), at daktboard@gmail.com or Smt. Dipannita Dattagupta, Publicity Officer, at dipannita.teaboard@gmail.com.
