About - Goodricke Group Limited

Goodricke Group Limited stands as India’s second-largest tea producer, specializing in premium teas from Darjeeling, Assam, and Dooars regions. Incorporated on June 14, 1977, in West Bengal, it acquired the Indian assets of eight sterling tea companies, including 17 estates, marking its entry into cultivation, processing, and blending.

The company manages around 40 tea gardens across key regions, operating 22 factories for black, green, oolong, and instant teas. In Darjeeling, iconic estates like Thurbo, Badamtam, Barnesbeg (bio-organic), Castleton, and Margaret’s Hope yield muscatel-flavored “Champagne of Teas” due to Himalayan terroir. Assam’s 12 gardens, such as Amgoorie and Harmutty, produce robust CTC and orthodox varieties, while Dooars’ 12 estates like Danguajhar and Leesh River focus on strong liquors from fertile plains. These gardens emphasize sustainability, wildlife harmony, and community welfare.

For FY 2024-25 (ended March 2025), Goodricke reported revenue of ₹929.44 crore, up 12.8% from ₹823.98 crore prior year, with net profit swinging to ₹20.06 crore from a ₹69.30 crore loss. Q2 FY26 (Sept 2025) net profit fell 27.78% to ₹43.53 crore. Market cap stands at ₹427 crore, with 74% promoter holding by UK-based Assam-Dooars Investments. Sales growth averaged a modest 3.27% over five years.

In July 2025, Goodricke sold Leesh River Tea Estate to Sombaria Agri Products for ~₹270 million, aiding portfolio restructuring. Latest unaudited results cover Q3 FY26 (Sept 2025), reflecting ongoing quarterly reporting.
